About ARVFA

The Arkansas Rural & Volunteer Firefighters Association is an organization comprised of and for the rural and volunteer firefighters and emergency responders throughout the state of Arkansas.

ARVFA provides a unified voice for rural and volunteer firefighters in the decisions made at the local, state and federal level concerning fire protection services.

Your membership in ARVFA helps ensure the concerns of Arkansas’ rural and volunteer firefighters are addressed and the importance of rural and volunteer fire protection and emergency services are promoted.

The Arkansas Rural & Volunteer Firefighters Association was incorporated as a non-profit organization on December 9, 1985. Since that time, ARVFA has worked hard to promote the general welfare of the citizens of Arkansas through:

  1. Educating citizens as to the need for improved rural and volunteer fire protection and emergency services, and to provide for a better understanding of the contribution volunteers make to their communities;
  2. Promote legislation to assist rural communities and towns to establish, equip, maintain, train and improve volunteer fire departments and emergency response units for the purpose of prevention, control and extinguishment of fires, and the mitigation of natural and man-made disasters;
  3. Promote legislation for the protection of volunteers, firefighters, and other emergency services from certain types of liabilities and to provide for assistance to volunteers and their families injured or killed in the line of duty;
  4. Promote better understanding, unity and cooperation among fire and emergency services, volunteers, other related organizations, and citizens of our State.
